NEW NEWS:
HOW TO DEAL WITH MAJOR LIFE CHANGES –HOLD A GARAGE SALE!
(Vicki Feltman)
Flash back to Memorial Day weekend, 2010, the last time I held a garage sale, to make room for Sara, my daughter, who was moving back home after college. Good news, she moved out on her own and is self-supporting. Yippee!! She only comes home to do laundry once a week and for a home cooked meal.
Snap your brain back to this weekend, July 7thand 8th…. the SECOND garage sale in my life. Like too many acquaintances and friends to count, my job was outsourced in June.
I have toyed with the idea of downsizing my 4 bedroom, 2 bath house and associated mortgage payments to something more suited to just me, the cats, dogs, birds, and fish.
The time is NOW.
NO, silly, I have NOT left the Homestead Band Room. I have always volunteered my time as the music department administrative assistant, and will continue to do so. Even if I decide to retire, I will continue to spend my time where you usually find me, in the band room.
So… back to the Garage Sale! Half the proceeds will go to the music booster’s financial aid account!
If you have nothing better to do this weekend, stop by to see (and BUY) what has accumulated in over 30 years in closets and attics and bedrooms.
You can also stop by and give me suggestions on what I should do with the rest of my life. Part time work? Retirement? Doggy Day Care? Gotta make enough money to keep Mr. Burn’s coffee maker full every morning and the printer ready to go with paper and ink cartridges for all those students who seem to forget to bring their music in for class rehearsals.
Contact me at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com for more information!
tick tock ….6 more days to get your packets and payments in….july 10th is creeping up!
(Vicki Feltman)
Options –
1) Shove your forms and checks thru the mail slot on my garage door at 1150 W. Knickerbocker Dr., Sunnyvale, 94087. Mikey and Toby are on guard. They will bang against the garage door as soon as they hear you but they can’t touch the mail or you. DO NOT LEAVE FORMS ON MY FRONT PORCH.
2) Deliver them to me in the band room between 3 and 6 this Wednesday, or any day except July 4thnext week.
3) Mail the forms and payments to me at 1150 W. Knickerbocker Dr., Sunnyvale, CA 94087. Any mail postmarked AFTER July 10thwill have a $75 late fee applied.
last minute physicals available July 10th….the day your forms are due!
(Vicki Feltman)
You have a chance to sign up for on-site physicals between 4 and 6 pm, Tuesday, July 10th, in the band room.
Physicals will cost $20 and take less than 5 minutes each. Bring your form and your $20 to give to Dr. Shahab.
If you are interested, please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.comto sign up for a slot.
First come, first serve.
smart music updated with movement 2!
(Vicki Feltman)
Mr. Weingartner has extended the assignment expiration date so you should not run into issues accessing Movement 1 and 2 in SmartMusic.
Have you all gotten into SmartMusic? Are you having issues? Time to work them out!
Don’t panic if you haven’t seen the music. Your section leaders and section mates will help you thru it. You’ll all learn it together at these Wednesday practices.
But it would be to your advantage to get into SmartMusic and learn how it works!
Read the documents located in the music booster website to learn about SmartMusic and how to acquire it:
SmartMusic 2012 steps you thru the purchase and installing of the application.
SmartMusic Parent FAQ’s will answer the most common questions asked.

Volunteers Needed DURING UNIFORM FITTINGS (Both parents and students welcome)!
(Angela Richards)
Uniform fittings begin next Wednesday. We are in desperate need of volunteers to help students with fittings and paperwork. No experience is required! The more volunteers we have, the faster your child’s appointment will be.
This is an excellent opportunity to meet students, catch up with peers, and see what Uniforms is all about. Students are welcome to sign up and help out with everything but Jacket/Pant Fitting positions, and on a day when they do NOT already have an appointment.
To sign up, go to
http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/1212345634104916028and sign up as a “Parent Fitter”.

VOLUNTEER FOR SANTA CLARA VANGUARD BINGO TO EARN MONEY TOWARD BAND FEES
(Barb Edmonds)
Santa Clara Vanguard has opened their bingo volunteering calendar for November, December and January. This is a great way to "bank" money in your scrip account to pay for band expenses.
For each shift you volunteer, you will earn $40 toward your student’s scrip account. Money in your scrip account can be used toward paying any allowable Homestead Music program costs (Marching Band, Winter Percussion, Winter Guard, Choir, etc). Volunteers must be 18 yrs or older. They do not need to be a parent or relative of the student. They can be a friend working on behalf of the student.
If you are new to the program, please refer to the “Fundraising” section of the HHSMB website for details and for sign-up instructions (be sure to read all the information before signing-up):
