Football Game Concession Food Pre-order Deadline – Sept. 23

Hurry, get your forms in!  The deadline to pre-order your food for the Friday, Sept. 25, football game is Wednesday, Sept. 23 (at the END of practice).   Order forms received after the end of practice will not be fill, since once the total number of pre-order items is transmitted to the concession heads the numbers cannot be changed.

Forms: Grab a Concessions Pre-Order Form in the Band Room or go to the HHSMB website (http://homestead.schoolloop.com/mbmain ) and then just go to the Forms page.  Complete the form and turn it in to Mrs. Winnie Lo at the end of Wednesday night practice (I will be in the stands at Fremont High School), or drop it in the box labeled Mrs. Feltman's File Box located in Mr. Burn's office.

Tickets: Tickets will be found inside of your hat boxes (after you change out of your uniforms).  For Colorguard members, a parent in the Colorguard area will have your ticket.  For tuba and front ensemble members, tickets will be on your uniform cart.
See details on the form or contact Winnie Lo at leolo9@yahoo.com or 408-733-4878 if you have any questions.

We still have a need to fill some key positions not only for Football Game Concessions, but also for the fast approaching FUHSD Expo (Oct., 3rd) and Home Show (Nov., 7th).  Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in any of the following:

Concessions Set up Supplies and Equipment—We need someone who is willing to transport the canopies, tubs, some electrical items, and tables to and from each football game.  You would need to pick up these items from Homestead (shed and band room) and then return them at the end of the game.  If you are willing to do this for all games, you have the option of storing the canopies and tubs at your own home and just picking up the tables from school.

Jamba Juice Coordinator—It was hot at the last football game, and Jamba Juice was a very popular concessions item!  All of the arrangements have been made with Jamba Juice, so all we need is for someone to coordinate the ordering and transportation of the Jamba Juice to the football games.  Our volunteer who took care of this at the last game already has several other responsibilities and really needs someone to take over this duty.

Ice for Football Concession—We need someone to be responsible for delivering ice at around 3:30 p.m., on Fridays for our football concessions.  There are four more scheduled home football games, and the ice needs will probably be different for each game depending on the weather, so we will let you know how much to purchase.  You will be reimbursed for the purchase of the ice.

On Call Runner—This is a job you can do without even having to attend any of the football games!  We cannot always anticipate exactly what our needs will be with each game, although we do our best.  We have found that occasionally we need someone to run to a nearby store and pick up necessary items, such as extra ice, for example, if the weather turns out to be very hot like it was at the last game.  You will most certainly be reimbursed for any purchases we ask you to make.

FUHSD Field Show Expo Coordinator—This event will be held at Fremont HS on October 3rd.  This is a fun evening where our students perform for other schools in our district and they for us.  This year it is Homestead’s turn to run concessions, so we will need your help in the coordinating and running of things for the evening.
Home Show Dinner Coordinator—Our home show will be held at Homestead on November 7th, and we invite the local community to come for an afternoon performance featuring our marching band, jazz band, and dance team (Equestriettes).  Of course we will want to feed our local community guests, so we need someone to oversee and coordinate dinner on this very important day.

Concession Worker Family Pass Still Available!!

Just a reminder to all Music Booster volunteers; everyone must pay to get into the football games, volunteering or not.  Once again, Assistant Principal Tara Grande and the Athletic Boosters are offering Music Booster volunteers a chance to buy a special season pass to allow volunteers entry to the games at a discounted rate.  You must be a volunteer at concession, bbq, espresso bar, bleachers, etc., at some time during the game.  In other words, this is not available to families who only come to watch the game (or come just to watch the BAND).

The cost of the pass is $45.00.  It will admit 2 adults and school age children (younger than high school age) into all  Homestead “Home” games, as long as the cardholder is volunteering during the game.  The regular admission price to a home game is $6 per adult per game and there are 5 home games in the season.

Another option is to buy an Athletics Family Pass for $70, which will allow 2 adults and their children into all Homestead “Home” sports activities, so, if you have students in band who also compete in cross country or swim team or volleyball, the athletics pass might be your best bet.  Contact the ASB office to purchase a Sports pass.
The Concession Worker Family Pass will be available for purchase until Friday, October 9th.  Please contact Vicki Feltman at vfeltman@pacbell.net if you would like to buy one.

Post-Game Status from the Uniform Moms

We had a record number of uniforms put away perfectly after the first game of the season. 92 marchers put their uniform away beautifully (compared to 70 last year).  That's almost half the marchers. We didn't reach that milestone until mid season last year.

The areas needing the most work: 1) hangars not facing the horse on the front of the garment bag (name label is not facing out), 2) pants are not hung with seams together and smooth, 3) jacket hangar facing backward, 4) garment bags and hats left out on the grass (this is never allowed)

If you need help, please see your section leader or a uniform parent.
Thanks, Uniform moms

***REMINDER*** Band Hotel Rooming Lists from Pat Tomosada

The Marching Band has 2 upcoming overnight trips in October and November, and I need to submit a rooming list to each hotel.

The first trip is to the Bands of America Competition in Santa Clarita from October 30-November 1, 2009.   We will be staying at the Embassy Suites in Valencia.  Some of our hotel rooms will have 1 King bed with a sofabed (for 4 people) and some will have 2 Double beds with a sofabed (for 6 people).

Our second overnight trip will be to the Western Band Association Competition in Fresno on November 21-22, 2009.  We will be staying at the Springhill Suites in Fresno.  The students will all have 2 Double beds with a sofabed (for 6 people).

Students can pair up with their friends and stay in the same room together.  Make sure that the friends all agree to share the same room.  There are no guarantees that everyone will get to stay together, but every effort will be made to accommodate roommate requests.  Those who do not sign up will be assigned their rooms.

Email both the Bands of America and Western Band Association rooming requests to Pat Tomosada at Tomosada@comcast.net.  Please have only 1 person send in the request per room.  The requests will be filled in the order that they are received---1st come, 1st served.  Deadline is by September 30, 2009.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call Pat Tomosada at 408-737-1740.

Remember, for the BOA Competition, some rooms will be for 6 people and some rooms will be for 4 people.  At the WBA Competition, there will be 6 people in a room.

Hotel Rooms for Family and Friends

The Marching Band will be in Santa Clarita competing in the Bands of America Competition from October 30 through November 1, 2009 and will be staying at the Embassy Suites in Valencia.  Unfortunately, we were able to only reserve rooms at the Embassy Suites for the band, instructors, and support staff.  If parents would like to reserve a room, there is a Courtyard Marriott next door to the Embassy Suites.  They currently have a weekend special that must be booked by September 24, 2009.  I would suggest that you reserve your room as soon as possible due to large number of bands competing at BOA.  The address and phone number is:
Courtyard Santa Clarita Valencia
28523 Westinghouse Place
Valencia, California 91355 USA
Phone:  1-661-257-3220

Our second overnight trip will be to the Western Band Association Competition in Fresno on November 21-22, 2009.  We will be staying at the Springhill Suites in Fresno.  I have 9 extra rooms at the Springhill Suites for family and friends.  Please send an email to Pat Tomosada at Tomosada@comcast.net or give me a call at 408-737-1740 if you would like to reserve one of the extra rooms at the Springhill Suites or if you have any questions.
