HHSMB Blast - October 14

Congratulations to the Homestead Marching Band and Colorguard!

The Homestead Marching Band's mission statement is to work hard with a positive attitude to achieve the "Golden Performance!" The performance is the goal, not the trophy. Trophies are simply "pats on the back" for jobs well done.

With that said, here is a list of "pats on the back" received at the Cupertino Tournament of Bands Saturday:

TOB Parade – 1st place Large Band Division; 1st place Auxiliary Large Band Division

TOB Field Show – 1st place Large Band Division; 1st place percussion; 2nd place brass, 2nd place auxiliary

Grand Sweepstakes – highest combined parade and field show score over all bands!

Awesome!!

Another busy busy week… please read schedule carefully!!

Parents, please contact Mr. Burn immediately at john_burn@fuhsd.org  if your student is missing any performance or practice.  These are all mandatory events that affect your student's grade.

drill team, the class floats and the homecoming court. We march down Mary, then turn right on Cascade then a left on Selo, that takes us into the Fremont High School parking lot. The parade should end around 4:15 p.m. at Fremont HS.  You will have about a 15 minute water break. The trailer will be there with your instrument cases and anything else you loaded.

We still need someone to be our Jamba Juice Coordinator—You would work with the Jamba Juice store on pricing before the season starts and then take the pre-order numbers from our Pre-Order Coordinator and then determine how much to buy for a given game.  Then you would place the order with Jamba Juice.  Ideally we would then have another volunteer (or you as coordinator could do this also) who is willing to make one, possibly two trips to Jamba Juice on game night: one trip for general sales and a second trip for pre-order sales.  For this season, all of the pricing work has been done, so we need someone to coordinate with the Pre-Order person, place the orders, and then pick up the Jamba Juice.  Please contact me if you are interested.

Are you a whiz at charcoal BBQ?

Reliable charcoal starter needed for next year's BBQ.  Must be able to arrive about 4:30 to get the fire started before the home games – usually Friday afternoon, usually 5 per season.  Training available by the esteemed Don Pearson at the 11/6 game.  Contact Anita Herrmann: aherrmann@sbcglobal.net or 408-739-2742.

Uniforms, Mud, Buying Sock/Gloves

·         Be sure to clean your shoes in between each performance.  The fields have been pretty muddy lately.  This includes cleaning between this Friday's football game and Saturday's competition.  Your shoes must be clean for each performance for your uniform to be considered "perfect".
·         Don't forget your gloves, CREW LENGTH BLACK SOCKS, shoes at each performance
·         If you owe money for socks, gloves or hair goods, you have one week to pay for them.  After one week, if it is not paid, your uniform will not be considered "perfect".
·         A number of shoes have been left after each performance.  It would be helpful if you label your shoes.  You can lift up the inner sole lining and write your name in sharpie on the inside.

school. Feel free to drop-off a scrip form/check with Mr. Burn, see me at
the end of Wed. night's practice, or, of course, email me anytime! Sorry for
any inconvenience! Mary Mansir mfmansir@sbcglobal.net
