CONCERT REMINDER

Wednesday, February 9th, Fremont High School AND Lynbrook High School will be our guests, performing with our Concert Band and Symphonic Band.

Thursday, February 10th, the Los Gatos High School Orchestra, directed by Mr. Marra, will be our guest, performing with our Orchestra.

Please note, the Wednesday concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m.    Concert Band students should arrive at 5:30 pm.  Symphonic Band members arrive at 6 p.m.

Our Homestead Concert Band leads off the evening, first on stage at 6:30 pm.

They will be followed by the Fremont Concert Band, Lynbrook Concert Band, Fremont Symphonic Band, Lynbrook Symphonic Band, and ending with the Homestead Symphonic Band.

Students from all three school sites will mingle after the concert, enjoying the desserts supplied by you, our Homestead families.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

  • All concerts are mandatory and students are expected to participate.  Parentsmust let Mr. Burn know IN WRITING if students will not be attending.
  • All students and members of the audience are expected to arrive before the concert begins and stay for the entire concert.  It is impolite and disruptive to other groups for you to leave in the middle of a performance.
  • The following is the appropriate concert attire:

·         At formal performances such as adjudicated festivals and formal concerts, students are to wear the following:

o        Boys:

§         Black dress shoes, dark socks, black pants (no jeans), white button-up collared shirt, black tie and black sport coat. If a coat is unavailable, a black sweater is ok, but no sweatshirts or black shirts please.

  • Girls:
    • Preferred: Long black dress with shoulders covered, black hose and shoes.
    • Ok: Black skirt knee length or longer, or black dress pants, with black top with shoulders covered, black hose and shoes.
    • Not Ok: T-shirts, sweatshirts, or tennis shoes.
    • Rule of thumb for girls’ formal concert attire: the less skin showing, the better.

I know it’s last minute, but….

Is anyone available to help with door monitor duties Wednesday and Thursday?  Easy duty.  Just sit inside the auditorium and get up when everyone claps after each piece, to open the lobby door.  We lock the doors so people cant enter while the performance is going on because it’s being recorded.  We don’t need smashing doors and creaking hinges to get on the dvd.

If you can, you will be needed from 6:15 until 8:45 pm.  Please contact Vicki Feltman atVicki.feltman@gmail.com if you have questions and especially if you can help!

And more importantly…..

Barb Edmonds is leading the effort to feed dessert to the Homestead , Fremont, and Lynbrook Bands tomorrow (Wednesday)!  Please contact Barb atedmondsbarb@yahoo.com  if you can help serve, set up, clean up, ANYTHING!

SUPPORT OUR SUPPORTERS!

Invite friends and family for a little swing music.  No one is too young or old!

            Who: Joe Ferrari Band

            What: Swing Band Dance

Where: Sunnyvale Elks Lodge, 375 N. Pastoria (off Maude)

            When: Saturday, Feb 19th, 2011, 7:30 – 10 pm.

Why: Fundraiser for our Macy’s trip

From George West, one of our biggest fans:

Band is the Joe Ferrari Band (long-time local) now directed by his daughters (who are vocalists) Judy and Geri.  An excellent Swing Band (but they play everything)   16 piece band and excellent vocals and duets.

I have 20 reservations as of today (2/7/11). Taking flyers to the Moose this Friday.

The 30th performance  take was $1040.00 and I have given the cks and cash to John Burn.

Sure hope we get some interest from alumni and band parents.

Thanks for your help.   See you there.

Shirley & George
