All marching band and color guard are expected to participate at each competition. Contact Mr. Burn if you will NOT be attending on Saturday.

Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if your student will NOT be on the bus going to the competition on Saturday, or if your student will NOT be coming back on the bus after competition. We don’t want to waste time waiting for someone who won’t show up at bus departure.

If you are picking up your student after competition, we want to make eye contact with both parent and student before you leave, so that we make sure everyone has hooked up; we would hate to have a student THINK their parent was picking them up, only to have them end up standing in an empty parking lot long after everyone else has left.

MESSAGE FROM TRASHSTALKER TEAM

(Ken and Susie Lamarche)

Hey Folks... Let's Talk Some Trash!

Our concessions and competition food prep folks continue to make great strides to keep our land-fill impact low.
And this last weekend was an exceptional example.

At the Homecoming football game, we had our best diversion numbers ever with 85% of the waste being diverted into compost or recycle!
Many thanks to the concession team who are now serving in compostable packaging, tediously separate the recyclable foil from the delicious baked potatoes, and constantly working to sort out materials while maintaining high health & quality standards.

To consider the positive impact of our competition food prep folks, consider the 2006 Modesto Field Show. At that event many years ago, with a band 3/4 our current size, we generated 10 bags or land-fill garbage.
At the Gilroy Field Show competition this last saturday, 304 meals were served... and only 2.5 bags of land-fill garbage were generated.
Special thanks to the food prep folks for there extra effort at clean up time sorting materials, and a big thanks to the truck crew for hauling containers of compost and recycle back to Homestead. It is truly a team effort.

We always need help in recycling and waste management. If you are interested in helping, please let us know. Thanks!
