HOMESTEAD HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC BOOSTER BLAST!
November 9, 2011
Did you receive all the Macy’s emails? Emails were sent October 31st, November 4th, and November 8th. Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if you didn’t receive these emails.
A big THANK YOU to Diane Cressler for organizing and coordinating one of the best Home Shows in Homestead history. Her endeavors to advertise the event were so successful; we had over 700 paying attendees, more than ever! And the crowd appreciated the lavish cookie spread laid out for their consumption. Everything went off without a hitch, except for the fact that she lost her voice keeping things running so smoothly. Congratulations for a job well done!!

Please remember, all practices and performances are mandatory and affect your grade. Please contact Mr. Burn by email immediately if your student will be absent.
5:30pm Meet in band quad to change and dress in uniform. Bring everything you need for the night (gloves, shoe bag with CLEAN shoes and CLEAN black socks, money, instrument and jacket). You will have no access to the band room.
Leave your instrument cases and belongings IN FRONT OF uniform carts. We cannot see anything put in BACK of uniform carts.
6:00pm Warm up/Pep band music rehearsal. Sunnyvale Middle School students will be preparing for the game as well. Please show them how it’s done.
7:25pm Traditional pre-game show
7:30pm Game begins
- During the game, the band sits in their sections in full uniform, and plays pep band music.
- No eating or drinking, except water, while in uniform.
- The entire band stands up when we play.
- After half-time, you will go back to the uniform carts and change out of your uniforms, and put on pep band shirt, jacket and jeans.
- 3rd quarter: return to stadium with your instrument, get some food, and bring your food to the band area of the bleachers.
- 4th quarter: ALL band members must attend 4th quarter. When the band is playing, everyone needs to be playing (not eating or talking). You must be with your section (flutes, clarinets, altos, etc.) when in the stands. We will play one or two songs after the game ends, and then you’re a dismissed. (sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 pm)
Pre-order tickets – you will find them in your hat boxes after half-time. Tuba and Pit will find their tickets taped to the front of their uniform cart. Color Guard pre-order tickets will be distributed by a Color Guard parent.

To all volunteers: Please follow through on your assignments and verify that your position is covered. In some instances, we have had to scramble to find someone to fill a spot, not realizing that you were coming. In most instances, if someone is in Your Place, it is because we yanked them from another spot or they are doing a double shift. Please don't assume your spot is covered just because you see someone there! Your follow through will be greatly appreciated. We will do our best to post Red Flags where people are needed/missing. Thank you for your cooperation.
BAND PHOTO MAKE UP DAY – STAY TUNED
(Vicki Feltman)
We realize not every student had a chance to get their individual pictures taken on Saturday. We are arranging a makeup day, which means, if you didn’t get a chance to order pictures, you have a second chance!
We will announce the makeup day in the next blast. It will most likely be in December some time.

VOLUNTEER FOR SANTA CLARA VANGUARD BINGO TO EARN MONEY TOWARD BAND FEES
(Diane Cressler)
Santa Clara Vanguard has opened their bingo volunteering calendar for November, December and January. This is a great way to "bank" money in your scrip account to pay for band expenses.
For each shift you volunteer, you will earn $40 toward your student’s scrip account. Money in your scrip account can be used toward paying any allowable Homestead Music program costs (Marching Band, Winter Percussion, Winter Guard, Choir, etc). Volunteers must be 18 yrs or older. They do not need to be a parent or relative of the student. They can be a friend working on behalf of the student.
If you are new to the program, please refer to the “Fundraising” section of the HHSMB website for details and for sign-up instructions (be sure to read all the information before signing-up):

To ensure your scrip account is properly credited, please email Diane Cressler (longdogz@pobox.com ) and let her know the dates you actually work and the name of the student scrip account to credit.
If you have any questions, contact Diane Cressler, longdogz@pobox.com.

MEALS FOR MACY’S NEXT MONDAY AT CHEVY’S
(Jackie Browning)
The next Meals for Macy's event will be held at Chevy’s located at 2116 West El Camino Real, Mountain View on Monday, November 14th. Please print the flyer and bring it with you to the restaurant. The flyer will be uploaded to http://www.hhs.fuhsd.org/mbmain under Forms. There are also flyers in the band room.

Remember to buy scrip for Chipotle to double the benefit!
SNACK SHACK COORDINATOR NEEDED FOR 2012 FOOTBALL SEASON
Are you organized? Do you like working with people? We are looking for someone to step up and take over the Snack Shack Coordinator position for next year’s football season. This can be a position that is shared with a friend. It is an excellent opportunity to meet band students and parents, and it provides an invaluable service to Music Boosters. If this is something that even remotely interests you, please contact Eileen Chun at hhsmbvolunteer@gmail.com for more information.
