HOMESTEAD BAND TO RECEIVE PROCLAMATION!

The mayor of Cupertino is going to publicly acknowledge the Homestead Marching Band and Color Guard for our wonderful performance in the 2011 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!! ALL band and guard members are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting, Tuesday, 1/17, 6:45 pm - 7:15 pm, 13500 Torre Ave, Cupertino, (next to the Cupertino Library). Fill your car with your band friends, wear your band jacket, and I'll see you there!
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINTER GUARD TEAM

On Saturday, our Winter Guard team participated in the CCGC Evaluations. This is where the team performs in front of a panel of judges and is then placed into a class for the season. Our Winter Guard team qualified for the Scholastic Open class. This is quite an honor. Their first competition will be on Saturday, January 21st at Homestead. More info will be provided next week.
REMINDER - COUNTY HONOR BAND CONCERT ON SUNDAY!

Only the top students in the county are accepted into the Santa Clara County Honor Band, based on auditions. Come hear our students perform!

The County Honor Band Concert takes place on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at 2:00 pm in the Spangenberg Theater, located at Gunn High School, 780 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto. Admission is $10 general admission, $8 for students and seniors.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS – BAND CAMP DATES SET!!

For those families who are setting their summer calendars, please note band camp will be held Friday, August 10th thru Sunday, Augusts 12th.
As always, there will be activities for all marchers the week before we leave, and full rehearsals the weeks before school starts.
Please plan accordingly.
CHANGES TO BAND ROOM AVAILABILITY

Friday, January 13th, the band room will be closed at 5 pm
The band room will be closed Monday, January 16th (Martin Luther King’s Birthday)
The band room will not be open after school on Wednesday January 25th
The band room is open from 3-6pm daily during all other school days.
VOLUNTEER FOR SANTA CLARA VANGUARD BINGO TO EARN MONEY TOWARD BAND FEES

Santa Clara Vanguard has opened their bingo volunteering calendar for February and March. This is a great way to "bank" money in your scrip account to pay for band expenses.
For each shift you volunteer, you will earn $40 toward your student’s scrip account. Money in your scrip account can be used toward paying any allowable Homestead Music program costs (Marching Band, Winter Percussion, Winter Guard, Choir, etc). Volunteers must be 18 yrs or older. They do not need to be a parent or relative of the student. They can be a friend working on behalf of the student.

To download an order form, go to: https://homestead.schoolloop.com/mbfund#SCRIP. Your student, including seniors, continues to receive scrip credit year-round. Scrip credit can be carried over to next year or can be used as reimbursement for this year's band expenses. Consult the band manual.
