MAKE YOUR DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENTS NOW FOR MARCHING BAND!!
Every year, it’s the same story. Band Camp forms, which require a doctor’s signature, are due in July. A panicked parent calls at the end of June, because they just CAN’T BELIEVE they can’t get an appointment with their doctor until the day before we leave for band camp, or the week AFTER band camp! OH NO!!!
HEED THIS WARNING. Make your doctor appointments NOW. Your doctors might have all their appointments booked up for the summer, because every child in the universe requires a physical for summer camp, summer sports, fall sports, etc. We have proof of instances where parents calling in May could not get in to see the doctor until mid-August.
This year, we are offering families the opportunity to schedule an appointment with Dr. Shahab, who does the physical exams for athletics. The cost of an exam is $20. We have arranged for Dr. Shahab to be in the band room on the following dates and times:
Tuesday, July 10 4-6 pm
Thursday, July 12 4-6 pm
Tuesday, July 17 4-6
Thursday, July 19 4-6
We have 50 appointment slots available on each of those days posted in our volunteer website. Use THIS NEW URL to gain access to the schedule:
We won’t be able to add additional slots, so first come, first serve.
Please note: the only thing we really need is your doctor’s signature on the form. If your doctor will sign the form without needing a physical, that’s between you and your doctor.
Please make sure you call your doctor to find out.
The band packet, which includes the medical form, will be distributed at the end of May.
Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.email@example.com more information or if you need the form before band camp packets are distributed at the beginning of June.
Please make sure incoming Freshmen marchers know about this, too.
VOLUNTEER FOR SANTA CLARA VANGUARD BINGO TO EARN MONEY TOWARD BAND FEES
Santa Clara Vanguard has opened their bingo volunteering calendar for April and May. This is a great way to "bank" money in your scrip account to pay for band expenses.
For each shift you volunteer, you will earn $40 toward your student’s scrip account. Money in your scrip account can be used toward paying any allowable Homestead Music program costs (Marching Band, Winter Percussion, Winter Guard, Choir, etc). Volunteers must be 18 yrs or older. They do not need to be a parent or relative of the student. They can be a friend working on behalf of the student.
If you are new to the program, please refer to the “Fundraising” section of the HHSMB website for details and for sign-up instructions (be sure to read all the information before signing-up):
To register for Bingo times, please click the link below.
To ensure your scrip account is properly credited, please email Diane Cressler (firstname.lastname@example.org) and let her know the dates you actually work and the name of the student scrip account to credit.
If you have any questions, contact Diane Cressler, email@example.com.
BEFORE YOU REGISTER FOR HHS CLASSES
If you or someone you know is interested in being in a band class, orchestra, or jazz ensemble next school year, please see Mr. Burn during brunch, lunch or after school before signing up for a class.
To download an order form, go to: https://homestead.schoolloop.com/mbfund#SCRIP. Your student, including seniors, continues to receive scrip credit year-round. Scrip credit can be carried over to next year or can be used as reimbursement for this year's band expenses. Consult the band manual.
