Does your company match volunteer hours or donations?

Volunteer Hours

Microsoft, AMD, Spansion Intel may match your music volunteer hours with a monetary donation to Boosters. This may range from $10-17 dollars per hour, which adds up quickly! Over $3000 was raised last year from this type of program. Please check if YOUR company will match the volunteer hours you will be providing!  The five minutes it takes to fill out the form may be worth up to $1000 to Music Boosters! Thanks!

Donations

Also, many corporations will match all or a portion of their employess monetary donations. Here is a list of some of these. If you know of any additions or errors to this list, please let me know.

Stock Donations

Music boosters can now accept stock donations!  If you are interested in donating stock, please contact David Haight at (408) 774-1918.  Please note that HHSMB policy is to sell the stock immediately after the transfer of ownership.

eBay

Do you have a collectible item you no longer want?  Or maybe you got a present for Christmas that just wasn't quite right?  If so, please consider donating it to Music Boosters.  If it's a good candidate, HHSMB will place it on eBay and split the sales proceeds between our general account and your student's SCRIP account.  Items that sell well are those that are in good to excellent condition, are easily shipped, and are worth at least $5.  So far this year, we've sold about $400 in merchandise.  If you're interested, please contact Dave Upham at (408) 746-0587.

Recycle your old cell phones and used ink jet cartridges with HHSMB!

The "ink jet/cell phone" recycling for dollars program now accepts: cell phones, ink jet cartridges, laptop/notebook computers (you can remove the hard drive if you want), ipods, and digital cameras. This is a year long effort. Please place all items in the blue bin outside of Mr. Burn's office. We do NOT accept toner or laser cartrigdes due to size and lack of return.

SCRIP

SCRIP is our biggest fundraiser. Are you making it work for you and for Boosters? Check out the SCRIP list and make sure you are using it to the fullest extent!

eSCRIP

All music families are strongly encouraged to sign up for eScrip (the Music Booster's Group I.D. number is 137634941).

It takes only a very few minutes of your time to register, and after that, with no effort on your part, the participating merchants start sending money to Music Boosters. You don't have to remember to show a card or do anything at all. You don't even have to be aware which merchants are participating, unless you want to go out of your way to patronize them. Sixty percent of the money will go directly to your student's Scrip account, where it will be available for you to pay HHS music program expenses.

After you register online, please do not forget to notify Mary Mansir at (408) 245-2218 that you have registered online so the Boosters can properly credit the incoming proceeds to the proper student's Scrip account. You can also contact Mary if you have any questions about the eSCRIP program.

CRV Container Recycling

This year, our Color Guard is raising funds by collecting recyclable beverage containers and cashing them in at a local Recycling Center. Just in this past summer, Guard families and friends have already recycled over 4,000 containers! We now invite everyone to participate, and help to continue building HHSMB's reputation as the GREENEST, Fastest Band in the West. All you have to do is bring your bagged-up plastic, metal and glass recyclables to campus and leave them outside by the band room by 8 PM on Wednesdays. You don't even have to crush the containers or separate the materials; just bag up whatever you would otherwise put out for curbside recycling, and drop it off at HHS. Each Wednesday evening a Guard member or parent will pick up the bags, take them home, and separate out and cash in the CRV containers. The non-cash-value material will be put out for curbside recycling.

Thank you for your support!

If you have any questions about the program, please contact Color Guard Fundraising Coordinator Geoff Gongwer at gsgongwer@hotmail.com.

Entertainment Books For Sale

Entertainment books are coupon books with great discounts to stores, restaurants, entertainment, etc. Some of the highlights I saw in the book are the $20 bonus card on the front of each book as well as $20 of savings at Safeway and 12 AMC movie tickets for only $7.50 redeemable right at the movie theater. This year the Entertainment books are $30 (cash or check made out to HHSMB). If music boosters can sell over 500 books, our profit will be $15 per book with one half going into the general fund and the other half into your student's escrip account (our profit is only $12 if we sell between 100 - 499 books). I will be selling the books at the beginning and end of Wednesday and Saturday marching band practices starting in September or you can call or e-mail me for purchase. You can also order other areas books (i.e. books for the Los Angeles area) online at www.entertainment.com/support our account number is 884012. If you want to encourage your student to raise some of their "own" money you can have some books to sell to your neighbors and family. If you have co-workers who made you buy cookies, popcorn, or wrapping paper, take some books to sell at work. Thanks for supporting our fundraising efforts. This particular fund raiser runs from the beginning of school until November 8, 2009.
