Summer Enrichment Programs

Please note these programs are not endorsed by Homestead. Students and parents should investigate thoroughly prior to applying or attending.

  • Vision New America offers Public Policy Summer Internships to High School Students gain professional/leadership experience and skills by working with a government office.

  • NASA’s DEVELOP Summer Internship Program for juniors and seniors with an interest in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems or Remote Sensing. This is a paid, full-time, 10 week program located at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View.

  • Yosemite Institute is a non-profit organization that offers educational programs to high school students entering grade 11. Students can join park scientists and professional scientists in field research on biodiversity and ecosystems.  College credit and scholarships are available.

  • Armstrong Scholars Program brings young women, ages 15 to 18 together for a summer backpacking adventure and educational experience in High Sierra, to inspire participants to reach their highest potential and develop a stronger sense of self and community and a stronger connection to nature.

  • Bank of America Leaders Program will arrange 8-week paid internship at a nonprofit/charitable organization and a week- long Student Leadership Summit in Washington, DC to gain valuable civic, social and business leadership skills to interested juniors or seniors.

  • Metropolitan Transportation Commission Summer 2010 High School Internship Program  is to introduce high school students to career opportunities in the transportation field and to provide assistance on entry-level tasks to planners at transit agencies or traffic engineers at city and county public works departments.

  • Arthritis Foundation 2010 Summer Science Internship is to provide twelve outstanding high school students (juniors and seniors) the opportunity to work in leading Bay Area research laboratories to get exposure to the methods of basic laboratory science or clinical research. To request information send an email to djackson@arthritis.org.

  • Mineta Transportation Summer Institute offers 3 unit college course on the San Jose State University campus. The course is rigorous. Students who are interested in this free institute offered by the California Department of Transportation and SJSU. 

  • COSMO Program  offered by the University of California provides an opportunity for students who wish to learn advanced mathematics and science, and prepare for careers in these areas. Four campuses serve as hosts:  Davis, Irvine, San Diego and Santa Cruz.

  • City Of Cupertino's Park and Recreation Department offers summer Reading  Skills and Speed Reading Programs for entering 9th to 12th grade students at various locations Tuition and material fees vary by program level. For more information or to register, call (800) 978-9596.

  • Children’s Room in Cupertino Library  is looking for Summer Teen Volunteers. Requirement is to work for 24 hours (8 shifts, 3 hours each).
